BACA appoints new Chairman

Apr 2, 2009 Logistics

Dick Gilbert, Managing Director of Skyline Aviation, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Baltic Air Charter Association (BACA), the world’s largest organisation for air charter professionals.
The association, based at the Baltic Exchange in the heart of the City of London, is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, and is committed to raising standards in the air charter industry. Mr Gilbert says: “Our principal objective is to promote integrity and ethical business practices so that the industry and the public can do business with BACA members with confidence, regardless of whether they have traded with each other before.”
BACA runs training courses for its members, lobbies regulatory and legislative bodies on matters related to the airline industry, offers legal and contractual expertise, and is constantly seeking new ways to provide services to its member companies.
Mr Gilbert has been in the airline business for more than 40 years and has run charter and lease brokerage Skyline Aviation since 1991. Deputy Chairman is Bernard Keay, well known as Commercial Director of African International Airways for many years before recently retiring.
BACA represents the interests of commercial aviation companies particularly in the air charter industries and markets. Membership includes charter brokers, airlines, airports, consultants and others involved in both passenger and cargo aviation.
To celebrate its 60th anniversary, BACA members and their guests will gather for a celebration at London’s historic Guildhall on October 29th, and the event will also incorporate the annual BACA Excellence Awards.
