Lufthansa Cargo runner-up in survey for best Carrier in the world

Apr 1, 2009 Logistics

In the latest Air Cargo Excellence (ACE) survey, readers of the American "Air Cargo World" magazine ranked 93 carriers on the basis of various criteria. Lufthansa Cargo was crowned an excellent Cargo-Airline.
Emirates Sky Cargo narrowly displaced Lufthansa Cargo (127.7) to top the latest Index at 128.3 points. One conclusion is that Emirates Sky Cargo and Lufthansa Cargo have similar excellent levels of customer service, IT functionality and performance. Just in the category "costs" Emirates seems to be a little better than Lufthansa Cargo, according to the readers.
KLM Cargo, "The Reliable Airline" remained true to its tag line at No.4 for the second year running with a score of 122 - just behind Singapore Airlines that moved up from 13th place. Readers should note that the four top airlines all improved their overall scores from the previous survey, which means the best are getting even better. Another airline impressing forwarders is Qantas Cargo that moved from 34th place to 6th with an overall score of 119.3.
For the first time, all three major Gulf airlines, Etihad, Emirates and Qatar Airways, are in the Top 20 with an average overall score of 119.3. Moreover, the higher Top 20 average of 118.2 compared with the 115.75 of last year, shows that the top carriers continue to excel.
Swiss World Cargo, which enjoyed the No.2 slot last year, dropped to No.8. Out of the "best of the best" group is Japan Airlines that dropped from No.5 to 22 this past year. Also down sharply was EVA Air Cargo from six to 24, Thai Airways from 12 to 25 and UPS Air Cargo which moved from 14th place to No.36.
The survey was based on the four criteria customer service, performance, Value and technology (IT).
