Correction: Hactl tonnage falls 22pc at Hong Kong airport in February

Mar 12, 2009 Logistics

HACTL (Hongkong Air Cargo Terminals Ltd) suffered a 22 per cent year-on-year decline in February, the company announced in its standard monthly throughput statement.

A total of 133,624 tonnes were handled in February, said the Hactl statement. Imports stood at 38,587 tonnes, down 27.9 per cent year-on-year. Exports fell 25.3 per cent to 64,546 tonnes. Transshipments decreased 17 per cent to 30,491 tonnes.

The current economic condition has posed a tremendous challenge to the global air cargo market. We are paying unremitting efforts to review Hactl's services and further upgrade SuperTerminal 1's facilities, ensuring all resources are effectively deployed to support the operations when the market will hopefully be picking up in the latter half of the year, said Hactl marketing chief Lilian Chan.

The Shipping Gazette regrets the error.
