Aeroflot increase in January, takes delivery of 27th A320

RUSSIAN flag carrier Aeroflot in January handled 635,900 passengers, of which 7,800 were from charter flights, reports the Russian Daily Transport Report.

The carrier reported passenger totals increased to 2,100 people, a 0.3 per cent increase and passenger traffic up 2.6 per cent increase. Its international passenger service figures rose 2.6 per cent to 10,700 people with domestic up 8,600 people to 3.8 per cent.

Passenger load factor dropped 1.4 per cent and totalled 62.5 per cent as did its cargo factor, which was down 1.5 per cent at 47.9 per cent.

Additionally Aeroflot received through lessor General Electric Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) its 27th Airbus A320 jet to be named the Vladimir Obruchev after celebrated Russian geologist, geographer and science fiction author.

The order is to fulfil an operational lease contractor signed in 2007 with a further fifteen A320 expected this year. The carrier's A320 fleet operate on European and domestic routes.

The remaining aircraft will join a fleet of 49 Airbuses (A329/320/321) with its class configurations to carry 116, 140 and 170 people respectively.
