The QEP/CEP Training and Quality Program developed by Envirotainer, providers of active temperature-controlled air cargo containers and cold chain management specialists to the healthcare industry, won the ‘Most Influential Project Award’ at Cool Chain Europe 2009 in Brussels.
The Qualified Envirotainer Provider (QEP)/Certified Envirotainer Partner (CEP) program was developed in response to requests from the pharmaceutical industry to be able to best define those service providers capable of using Envirotainer’s solution to ensure the integrity of their shipments during the transportation process.
The Cool Chain Europe Advisory Board chose its 2009 award winners based on the nominee's significant contribution to excellence in cold chain management and the nature and complexity of the project, service, and technology being judged.
Johan Nordenberg, Envirotainer’s Healthcare Sales and Cold Chain Management Director, said: “We are extremely proud to win this award and to be recognized as an influential provider to the healthcare industry. The QEP/CEP program is a fine example of how we work alongside the world’s leading healthcare companies and their logistics partners to continually deliver solutions that uphold their reputation in the global market and, most importantly, maintain the integrity of every shipment we jointly transport for the wellbeing of consumers.”
The QEP/CEP program is designed to serve the needs of those service providers that transport temperature sensitive medicinal products by addressing the challenges facing freight forwarders, airlines and integrators. Under the terms of the accreditation program, each participant must demonstrate how their quality system - including training, procedures and audits - complies with the program standards that are based on Envirotainer’s and the industry’s current Good Distribution Practices. The program includes such elements as audits and corrective actions, facilities and management, process and procedures, change control, training and personnel, and deviation management.
To date, the QEP/CEP program has provided training on both Envirotainer and the industry's Good Distribution Practices to over 1,000 personnel involved in the distribution of temperature sensitive medicinal products.
“Since our customers include the major shippers, logistics providers and air carriers, we have the opportunity to transfer knowledge between the logistics and healthcare industries. There has been tremendous interest in the QEP/CEP program with 13 air carriers and 14 logistics providers currently engaged in the program,” added Chris Fore, Envirotainer’s QEP/CEP Program Manager.
Envirotainer was also a contributing member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Time and Temperature Task Force that has revised the Perishable Cargo Manual Chapter 17 for ‘Air Transport Logistics for Temperature-Sensitive Healthcare Products’.
