GAC Thailand's to handle JewelsAgent.com's US shipments

Feb 23, 2009 Logistics

JEWELSAGENTS.COM has opted for GAC's Free Zone warehousing and services at Lad Krabang package which promises 20 per cent cost savings of the total product cost for the company, a GAC statement said.

Inside the Free Zone, JewelsAgent.com will be able to assemble and pack their goods, and they will be exempted from all import duties and VAT. This service needs certain licences from the Industrial Estate of Thailand as well as the Thai Customs.

Erez Agmoni, GAC Thailand's business development manager, said: "The client was keen to cut costs so they could reduce the prices of their finished product. However, competition was fierce on cargo rates, so we had to get creative. And in true GAC tradition, we came up with a win-win solution, by taking advantage of the benefits of Free Zone operations."

JewelsAgent produces and exports jewellery largely to the United States where Wal-Mart is one of its major clients. Under the agreement, GAC's responsibilities include handling twice weekly shipments to the US, air import/export duties, customs clearance, as well as warehouse rental and management.
