Forward looking budget

Feb 20, 2009 Logistics

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has termed the Interim Railway Budget as ‘forward looking’ and said it will create a win-win situation for all - the Railways, the wagon manufacturers, heavy industries and the public.

According to Mr Chandrajit Banerjee, Director-General, CII, freight corridors, containers and improved passenger amenities that were announced in the Budget would go a long way in making the railway network more modern and efficient.

The Confederation of All India Traders regretted that the Budget did not contain any formula to streamline the freight loading mechanism that could have fetched substantial revenue to the Railways.

The Tirupur Exporters’ Association (TEA) has welcomed the Interim Railway Budget.

Mr A. Sakthivel, President of TEA, was happy with the decision to retain the freight charges, Exim News Service said.
