Silverjet celebrated its first full year of operations on 25 January 2008. Since the launch of
its daily service to New York Newark from its private terminal facilities at London Luton in
January 2007 the airline has introduced further daily services to New York Newark and
Dubai, flying into the executive terminal at the Emirate. The use of private terminals at
both ends on the London Luton to Dubai route is among many firsts for a commercial
airline.
Silverjet reached a load factor of 60% within its third full month of operations and achieved
an 80% load factor in August 2007 before the introduction of its second daily service on the
New York Newark route on 22 September 2007. The Dubai route was launched from
Silverjet's Luton base on 18 November 2007.
Silverjet won numerous awards during its first year of operation, including The Sunday
Times Travel's prestigious Best Airline award and Conde Nast Traveller's Best Business Class
Airline and the Design and Innovation awards.
Silverjet has secured two further Boeing 767 Extended Range aircraft from Thomsonfly
Limited for delivery in March 2008. These aircraft have an operational range of over 9,600
kilometres (6,000 miles) from London Luton Airport, Silverjet's base. In addition to New
York Newark and Dubai, the aircraft will be capable of operating from London Luton, for
example, to Delhi, Johannesburg, Mauritius, Shanghai or Los Angeles carrying 100
passengers.
