Hactl announces January tonnage throughput

Hactl released today its tonnage throughput for the first month of 2009.  A total of 142,754 tonnes were handled in January, representing a drop of 30.9% year-on-year. Import volume for January was 36,631 tonnes, down 34.7% year-on-year.  Export sector also recorded a decline of 32.6% against the same period in 2008, with a total of 75,691 tonnes being handled.  Transshipment tonnage in January recorded a decrease of 20.5%, with a total of 30,432 tonnes of cargo being handled.

“The current economic condition has posed a tremendous challenge to the global air cargo market. We are paying unremitting efforts to review Hactl’s services and further upgrade SuperTerminal 1’s facilities, ensuring all resources are effectively deployed to support the operations when the market will hopefully be picking up in the latter half of the year,” said Ms Lilian Chan, General Manager of Marketing and Customer Service.
