Trailer 2009 on track

Jan 13, 2009 Logistics

The current financial and economical crisis is also hitting the transport industry. The booming business among manufacturers of vehicles and accessories, as we knew it until the second quarter of last year, totally collapsed from then onwards. Due to the crashed demand on the market, an enormous overstock of vehicles was caused. On the one hand the dip in production came too late to give some solace on the short run. On the other hand it would be somewhat naïve to think that the demand will boost again towards peaks as known at the beginning of  2008. This rough analysis has pushed a number of pan-European actors to cut down on marketing-expenses, which led to cancelling their participation to this or that tradeshow. As a result various shows in Europe have been cancelled altogether. Some observers believe that this situation of general overstock will go on for about another two quarters. Afterwards we ought to wheel towards levels of production that were called normal more or less three years ago.

The Trailer tradeshow has been the most specialized show for non-motorized material for many years. Trailer is considered as the place to be for all those international and national leading players, often specialized in very particular vehicles, who are very keen on participating at Trailer because of its excellent ‘value for money’-ratings and for its professional visitors in particular. Quite a number  of these players had not seen huge volume increase in the peak period, but as a result the temporary crisis doesn’t hit them that much either.

Therefore the organizing committee is able to confirm, 10 months before the start of the show, that Trailer 2009 will take place as planned. From November 20th  to November 24th, Kortrijk Xpo will yet again be the scene for all the latest in trailers, semi-trailers, bodywork, all kinds of accessories and telematics in the field of road haulage and logistics.

More than ever, Trailer is aiming at professional visitors out of Belgium and is convinced to attract a lot of visitors from neighboring countries.  For them a daytrip to Kortrijk Xpo is perfectly doable, all the more because many of them won’t have the opportunity to look at the complete market-picture in their vicinity in 2009. The proximity of Trailer is yet another trumpcard where value for money is concerned, be it for the visitor.
