Japan Airlines (JAL) will offer code share flights operated by British Airways (BA) from London (Heathrow) to Lisbon, as well as to 4 destinations in the United Kingdom; Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle. The code sharing flights are targeted to start from January 14, 2009 and reservations on the UK flights can be
made from January 7, 2009 and on the Lisbon flight from January 14, 2009.
With the new code share flights mentioned above, JAL connects Japan to a total of 31 cities in Europe on 43 routes. Cities already served are as follows: Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Budapest, Copenhagen, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Helsinki, London, Lyons, Madrid, Manchester, Milan, Moscow, Munich, Nice, Oslo, Rome, Paris, Prague, Rome, Stockholm, Stuttgart, Warsaw and Zurich.
Japan Airlines and British Airways - both members of the oneworld alliance - first started code sharing in February, 2004. This code share agreement further expands JAL's Japan- Europe network by providing
smooth connections with minimal transit time from Lisbon and the UK cities onto daily services operated by the airline between London (Heathrow) and Japan.
