KOREAN AIR and the Incheon metro government have entered a plan to develop Incheon International Airport as a gateway to northeast Asia in both air transport and logistics, the airline announced after a ceremony where airline president and COO Jonghee Lee and Incheon mayor Sangsoo Ahn signed the Air Transport Industry Enhancement Contract at city hall.
Under the contract, Korean Air will move its short-haul Jin Air headquarters from Seoul to Incheon and the city pledged its support the carrier's settlement in to become the city's only airline, said the Korean Air statement.
The agreement also calls for partnership with the metropolitan government to hold upcoming international events such as Global Fair & Festival 2009 as well as Asian Games 2014 in Incheon.
