Finnair pulls out of Guangzhou-Helsinki, citing downturn

Dec 26, 2008 Logistics

FINLAND's Finnair has ended its Guangzhou-Helsinki service and closed its Guangzhou office, reports Logistics Week.

Having cancelled the service, Guangzhou passengers must now go to Germany to get to Helsinki. The service, Guangzhou's first to north Europe, was launched in 2005.

The suspension results from shrinking business caused by the global financial crisis. Finnair is said to be the first foreign airline to withdraw from Guangzhou since the financial crisis began.
