First new Regional Member of Cargo 2000

Dec 15, 2008 Logistics

Vienna-based Cargomind is the first quality-driven organisation to take advantage of Cargo 2000’s new Regional Membership that was launched to encourage more medium-sized airlines, freight forwarders and logistics companies to participate in its quality management system.

The new lower cost category of membership is available to any company with operations in up to five countries and up to 20 sites in their network.

Launched in 2004 to provide multi-modal freight and logistics services, Cargomind has office locations in Graz, Innsbruck, Linz and Vienna in Austria, in Prague in the Czech Republic, Frankfurt, Germany, and Budapest, Hungary. It is the eighth largest cargo agent in Austria.

Uwe Glaser, President of Cargomind, said: “With a total of 45 years of experience working for the airline industry and as a cargo agent, I have gained a fair amount of insight to the industry. I became familiar with the aim and the goals of Cargo 2000 a couple of years ago and felt that this would be an excellent way of differentiating Cargomind from the competition. At that time, however, we felt the membership fee was primarily geared towards airlines and global forwarders.  We entered into discussion with Cargo 2000’s management team to explain our intentions and they clearly understood the importance of making their industry standard quality system available to everyone.

“The launch of the new Regional Membership category of Cargo 2000 membership makes it viable for us to participate in the program and we are proud to be the first full Regional Member. We are committed to Cargo 2000 and IATA e-freight and see both producing long-term, measureable benefits for our customers and our business as a whole.”

Lothar Moehle, Regional Director EMEA of Cargo 2000, said: “Over the past two years we have met many smaller and medium-sized freight forwarders that have clearly recognised the value to their business of adopting Cargo 2000’s quality management system. The launch of the new Regional Membership makes participating in our program more affordable for these companies. We are confident others will follow Cargomind in joining Cargo 2000 and that they will quickly recover their membership costs through the efficiencies our quality system will bring to their businesses.”
