Railway transport in Poland to decrease

In the next year freight railway transport might decrease even 6%. The research company Progtrans claims, that product of tons moved will decrease in Germany from 7.1% in 2007 to 1.48%. In Poland it might be much worse, Railway Market reports.

The biggest private rail operator, CTL Logistics, forsees that the market will shrink 3.5% this year and 2009 will be even more painful reaching 6%. It is due to decrease of transport of steel, coal and ores.

The crisis will hit most the companies from PKP group, PKP Cargo will surely report loss this year. Private operators are more flexible, they already started to restructure employment.

2009 will be difficult year for PKP LHS as well. The company transports mostly steel and metallurgical products.
