DHL said Tuesday it has been named preferred international shipping provider for Olathe, Kan.-based Systems Material Handling, a supplier and manufacturer of forklift parts.
The international express mail carrier will provide SMH with expedited delivery of the manufacturer's replacement parts and accessories to customers and distributors in North America, South America and Central America. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
SMH supplies more than 3 million parts annually for domestic and internationally manufactured forklifts and other industrial vehicles. Under the partnership DHL provides automated shipping systems, monitoring, procedures for Customs compliance linked to DHL's in-house brokerage capabilities and special pickup and delivery arrangements.
According to DHL, the new systems allow the delivery of parts to customers throughout the Western Hemisphere within 48 hours from the SMH's Olathe distribution center.
DHL will also provide express import services to handle expedited imports of parts from SMH locations in Europe.
