Lieberman remains in charge of committee

Senate Democrats have agreed to leave Joseph Lieberman in place as chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

Members of the Democratic caucus were upset with Lieberman's strong support for Republican Sen. John McCain during the presidential campaign.

President-elect Barack Obama signaled that Lieberman should be allowed to remain in the Democratic voting bloc, and senators agreed not to strip him of his chairmanship, Majority Leader Henry Reid said Tuesday.
