Intelligent Global Pooling Systems has signed a long-term supplier contract with Netherlands-based Schoeller Arca Systems to manufacture 30 million plastic pallets for the company over the next five years.

Because the marketplace has responded so enthusiastically to our offering, we have commissioned Schoeller Arca to produce a record number of pallets so that we can continue to provide quality service to new and existing customers, said Bob Moore, chief executive officer of iGPS, based in Orlando, Fla. This is truly a watershed moment for our company as it validates the demand the supply chain has for our service.

iGPS operates the world's first radio frequency identification-tagged all-plastic pallet pool.

Schoeller Arca will manufacture the pallets in a new fully automated manufacturing plant located in Springfield, Mo., with more new plants to be opened in the coming years.

iGPS pallets meet or exceed all the Grocery Manufacturers Association's requirements and is FM Global 4996 and UL 2335 certified fire retardant. The plastic pallets are also 30 percent lighter than traditional wood pallets and are 100-percent recyclable, the company said.
