NWA Cargo reducing fuel surcharge

Northwest Airlines' freight division, NWA Cargo, will reduce its fuel surcharges for domestic and certain international markets, effective Sept. 15.

The Minneapolis-based airline said the reductions are a response to the recent drop in jet fuel price.

NWA Cargo's surcharges for all domestic shipments will be reduced from 50 cents to 46 cents per pound. Fuel surcharges for shipments from the United States to Europe, Africa and the Middle East will be reduced from $1.20 to $1.10 per kilogram. Surcharges for shipments in both directions between the United States, Korea and Japan will also decrease from $1.20 to $1.10 per kg. Westbound transpacific surcharges from the U.S. to Shanghai, Guangzhou, and points beyond, will decrease from 50 cents to 40 cents per kg. Surcharges on NWA Cargo's longest routes, including all other shipments between the U.S. and Asia, will decrease from $1.30 to $1.20 per kg.
