United Arab Chemical Carriers appoints Groenning CEO

United Arab Chemical Carriers Ltd. (UACC) has appointed Jens Groenning as chief executive officer.

Groenning, chief operating officer for Copenhagen, Denmark-based Eitzen Chemical, will start his new role in Dubai in the fourth quarter.

The appointment of a CEO has been long awaited, but we believe our patience has been rewarded. We are very happy that Jens Groenning is joining us. We believe he has the right background and experience to drive UACC on to fulfill the ambitions we have for the company, said Ken Bloch Soerensen, chairman of UACC.

UACC was established in July last year by United Arab Shipping Co. and other investors from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The company has so far ordered 10 new 45,000 deadweight ton IMO II chemical tankers for delivery in 2011 and 2012 and taken delivery of one medium to long range product tanker with five more due to be delivered in the next six to seven months.
