UPS undecided about future Thailand investment

Jul 14, 2008 Logistics

UPS is carefully considering whether to increase investment in Thailand due to slow growth and turbulent political times for the Southeast Asian nation.

Of course, we want to grow our business in Thailand, but we want a stable government platform to work for, Greg Carstens, managing director of UPS Thailand, told the Bangkok Post in a report posted Friday. We need stability for confidence. I think we need more time to decide whether to invest in Thailand.

UPS operates Asia hubs in Hong Kong and the Philippines, though the Philippines hub will switch to Shenzhen in 2010, and the express giant will open its own facility in Shanghai soon as well.
