Great Wall Airlines has appointed Alvin Tay as vice president, sales and marketing, effective Tuesday.
Prior to joining the Shanghai-based all-cargo airline Tay was general manager for the United Kingdom, Ireland and Scandinavia at Singapore Airlines Cargo, one of Great Wall's parents. He will replace Low Peng Hong, who is retiring at the age of 65.
Great Wall is owned by the Beijing Aerospace Satellite Applications Corp. (51 percent), part of China Great Wall Industry Corp.; Singapore Airlines Cargo (25 percent); and Dahlia Investments (24 percent), a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore-state-owned Temasek Holdings.
The airline operates three Boeing 747-400 freighters, with a network covering Shanghai and Tianjin in China, Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Manchester in the U.K., Dubai, Seoul in Korea, and its recent U.S. additions Seattle and Chicago.
