BDP acquires majority stake in Indonesia joint venture

Jun 27, 2008 Logistics

U.S. logistics and transportation company BDP International has acquired a majority stake in its Indonesian joint venture, BDP Indonesia, the company said Wednesday.

The joint venture, established in 2001, will continue to be run by Aaron Chen, general manager, who reports to Peter Barnesby, BDP's regional director, at the company's Singapore regional headquarters. Headquartered in Jakarta, BDP Indonesia has more than 75 employees across the country's 17,500 islands, with branches in Surabaya, Semarang, Belawan, and Batam Island. Its newest branch in Balikpapan, Kalimantan, will open in July.

We have come a long way to see our Indonesian operations become a full-fledged member of the BDP family, Barnesby said. For BDP customers, this move will further strengthen access to Asia's third-largest market with a population of more than 220 million.

Aside from serving global and regional customers such as Dow, Rohm & Haas, Cognis, Hercules, Air Products, DuPont and Givaudan, among others, BDP Indonesia is the company's first office to receive vendor endorsement from Halliburton.
