Dragonair announced that a total of HK$2 million has been raised from staff donations to support the China earthquake relief efforts.
From May 15-31, a fundraising campaign was underway at Dragonair offices, with the company pledging to match any amount raised.
“I was very proud to see how generously our staff across our network responded to the fund raising campaign, with HK$1 million raised in just two weeks. With the company matching the donation, it means that a total of HK$2 million will go to the Hong Kong Red Cross China Relief Fund,” said Dragonair Chief Executive Officer Kenny Tang.
The airline also provided support to the Hong Kong Government and various relief organisations by helping to send relief teams and supplies to the affected areas. “As of June 6, we have provided over 150 air tickets free of charge and flown over 51 tonnes of relief supplies to the stricken areas,” Mr Tang said.
The airline’s inflight charity programme Change for Conservation, also has been collecting donations for the Hong Kong Red Cross from May 17 to June 13. As of June 6, over HK$530,000 has been collected.
