Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways today announced a change of leadership at its cargo division among other senior management moves due to take effect from the second half of the year.
Rupert Hogg, managing director of James Finlay Ltd. will switch jobs with Ron Mathison, Cathay Pacific's director of cargo. James Finlay, which has tea and horticultural interests in the United Kingdom, East Africa, Sri Lanka and Mainland China, is a wholly owned subsidiary of John Swire & Sons Ltd., the privately owned parent company of the Swire Group, Cathay Pacific's largest shareholder.
Hogg worked with Cathay Pacific in 1988 to 1997 in various marketing, commercial and revenue management roles in Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand and India.
Other management changes in the pipeline at Cathay Pacific include:
Ian Shiu will become director corporate development. Shiu was general manager revenue management, sales and distribution. He will replace Augustus Tang, who has been nominated to succeed PK Chan as chief executive officer of Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Co. Ltd.
Ivan Chu, general manager Southwest Pacific, will become director service delivery.
Quince Chong, director of service delivery, will take up the position of director of corporate affairs to oversee Cathay Pacific's activities in government relations, communications and environmental affairs.
These appointments reflect the company's longstanding policy of developing our own management expertise, said Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Tony Tyler. The appointments position Cathay Pacific to meet the challenges ahead and to ensure the smooth implementation of our strategy of growth as Hong Kong's home carrier and as one of the world's leading airlines.
