Panalpina has added its first direct air freighter link from Hungary as part of its own-controlled product in which it completely manages the capacity on selected scheduled freighter flights of other airlines.
The service, which started April 27, arrives in Budapest from Hong Kong every Sunday night, continuing its journey onto Moscow before returning to Hong Kong.
The Swiss logistics firm said the Hungary service has been introduced to serve the needs of its key industry customers in Eastern Europe, namely within the telecommunication, automotive and high-tech industries.
Since servicing Budapest via road feeder service to and from Western Europe, we have now built enough volume and confidence from customers in order to launch our first own-controlled flights from Budapest, said Robert Frei, head of corporate air freight.
The new service also offers a road and rail distribution service from Moscow, to serve the main cities of the Russian Federation. Specifically-selected road feeder service concepts enable us to reach all important industrial cities in Central Eastern Europe with the most optimal transit time, said Rolf Hauer, managing director of Panalpina's Austria/CEE/Turkey Area.
