May 16, 2011 Logistics

VANGUARD Logistics Services has relocated its Shanghai warehouse to a larger facility in a move driven by growing customer demand.

The upgraded warehouse is equipped to handle diverse cargo types varying in size and security requirements. "Our customer base in China continues to grow and Vanguard must expand its facilities in order to meet and exceed the needs of our customers," said CEO Charles Brennan.

The new warehouse covers a total area measuring 35,000 square metres, comprising an in-house area of 13,000 square metres and a shielded cargo unloading area of 5,600 square metres. The secure facility has a video monitoring system, alarm system, and a pulse electric fence has been erected around the facility, it said.

The warehouse is equipped with a 45-ton reach stacker and 16 three-ton and seven-ton forklifts that are capable of packing consol containers of 2,000-2,500 TEU monthly. "A full container packing service is available to move 1,000 TEU monthly at this location and 27 exclusive contracted container trucks are available to move over-limit cargo," said Michael Tsui, VLS East Asia regional vice president of commercial services.
