CHONGQING posted an international cargo throughput of 1.6 million tonnes from January to March, while container cargo totalled 85,000 TEU, Xinhua reports.
Waterborne import and export laden containers totalled 54,800 TEU. Those transported by rail soared 79.6 per cent to 476 TEU. Imports and exports transported by air even shot 376 per cent up to 97.2 million tonnes, two third of last year's annual volume.
The dramatic increase in air and rail transported international cargo is a result of the robust growth in the city's export of IT products.
