APL creates wholly owned Nordic organisation

APL has created a wholly owned organisation covering the Nordic region with the purchase of the 40% shareholding in APL Scandinavia from its long-term joint-venture partner, Scan Shipping A/S.

Scan Shipping has served APL and its customers in the Nordic countries since 1969. During that time, APL has developed a strong market presence in the region, which encompasses Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

Scan Shipping has been fully involved with the transition from a joint venture to a wholly owned subsidiary of APL. All contracts, rights and obligations of APL Scandinavia, including its entire workforce, will remain intact after the share acquisition.

APL Europe regional president, Dave Appleton, said: The establishment of APL Scandinavia as a wholly owned subsidiary is a part of our strategy to develop an owned and operated organisational network in this region, and throughout the world.
