GERMAN's Lufthansa Cargo has announced it handles 469,000 tonnes of cargo in the first quarter, up 19.9 per cent year on year.
This was attributed to an increase of capacity of 22.8 per cent through the reactivation of freighters, the expansion of the AeroLogic fleet with eight aircraft, and the extra capacity offered by its sister company Austrian Airlines.
"Almost all the increased capacity was sold so that the cargo load factor ended the quarter at a high 69.9 per cent," according to the company statement, but compared to 71.8 per cent of the same period last year, this indicated a decline of 1.9 per cent.
The financial figures for the first three months of the year will be published on May 5, said the company.
