CARGOTEC has delivered six rubber-tyre gantry (RTG) cranes featuring zero emission technology to Vietnam's terminal operator Saigon Newport (SNP) and its subsidiaries, Tan Cang Logistics Joint Stock Company (TCL) and Tan Cang Warehousing Joint Stock Company (TCW).
All of the six+one wide and one-over-five high cranes have been installed at the Cat Lai Terminal in Ho Chi Minh City by the manufacturer's technicians.
"The handover process went smoothly and SNP is very pleased with the performance of the machines. They appreciate the flexibility in running the cranes with shore or power supply, and the innovative on-screen controls systems ensure their safe and efficient operation," said Henry Tan, director of industrial and terminal business in south and south east Asia.
SNP is Vietnam's largest container terminal operator, handling 80 per cent of the import/export volumes in the Ho Chi Minh City area and nearly half nationwide. In 2009, SNP handled 2.4 million TEU, a 20 per cent increase on the two million TEU it handled in 2008.
