Apr 7, 2011 Logistics

THE 4,250-TEU Zim Shekou ran aground in the Suez Canal after developing engine trouble while leading southbound convoy of 31 ships, reports London's Containerisation International.

The Israeli vessel blocked the channel for three hours before being re-floated with the assistance of Suez Canal Authority tugs at the 43 kilometre mark. The ship was then moored to a buoy by the canal authority tugs where its engines were examined. There was no report of other damage.
