DB Schenker in the Philippines has opened a central facility in Manila to house under one roof the three units that had previously been located in Metro Manila, in a bid to streamline internal processes and process orders faster.
The new central complex located in the Sabrina Compound in Sucat, Paranaque City provides 2,400 square metres of office space and accommodates staff for air and ocean freight, customs clearance, special projects and contract logistics. A total of around 450 employees are now based at the new location, a company statement said.
"Manila is a key hub in the global network," said Thomas Lieb, chairman of the management board and responsible for global air and ocean freight. "We intend to further expand our network of locations, primarily, in the Asia Pacific region."
The building features 1,000 square metres of space for cross-docking operations. Adjacent to the 5,000-square-metre open yard is an area dedicated to project logistics. The complex also includes seven warehouses with a total of 18,000 square metres of storage area and 8,500 pallet positions. Logistics services chiefly target the healthcare, semiconductors and telecommunications industries.
