Container shipping and logistics group NOL today announced support for earthquake relief in Japan.
The Singapore-based company said it is contributing $100,000 to the Japanese Red Cross Society to aid victims of the 11 March earthquake and tsunami that devastated parts of the country. NOL said it will also match its employees’ contributions to the Japanese Red Cross Society.
“Like everyone, we are saddened by the destruction and loss of life witnessed in Japan,” said NOL CEO Ronald D. Widdows. “On behalf of our concerned employees, we want to contribute to recovery.”
NOL has an office in Tokyo. Its APL shipping line operates marine terminals at the ports of Kobe and Yokohama. APL vessels call at both ports.
The company said its employees in Japan are all safe and accounted for. Its office and marine terminals are open for business.
