DB Schenker in the Philippines recently inaugurated a new central facility in Manila. Three units in Metro Manila are now located in a central complex in the Sabrina Compound in Sucat/Paranaque City.
The new facility provides 2,400 square meters of office space for the corporate office and accommodates the teams for air and ocean freight, customs clearance, special projects and contract logistics.
A total of around 450 employees are now based at the new location that will enable orders to be processed faster with streamlined internal processes.
“Our goal is to be the No. 1 logistics provider in this country. By concentrating our forces at the new location, we are one step closer to achieving this goal,“ said Reiner Allgeier, managing director, Schenker Philippines.
Dr. Thomas Lieb, Chairman of the management board of Schenker and responsible for global air and ocean freight, said Manila was a key hub in the global network operated by DB Schenker Logistics, particularly for customers in the consumer electronics sector.
“We intend to further expand our network of locations, primarily in the Asia/Pacific region,” he said.
The building includes close to 1,000 square meters of space for cross-docking operations. Adjacent to the 5,000 square meter open yard is an area dedicated to project logistics.
The complex also includes seven warehouses with a total of around 18,000 square meters of storage area and 8,500 pallet positions, where logistics services are provided for industrial customers in the fields of healthcare, semiconductors and telecommunications.
Environmental aspects were taken into account during the construction of the new facility. DB Schenker in the Philippines is the first logistics provider to use a new paint for its facility that converts air pollutants such as nitrogen and sulfur oxides into unharmful compounds using a catalytic process.
