KOREAN Air has placed orders for two new Boeing 747-8 freighters, worth US$639 million at current list prices.
The airline now has seven B747-Fs on order, including this one. The carrier has at present 27 Boeing freighters in its fleet, reports London's International Freighting Weekly.
The B747-8 freighter is capable of carrying up to 140 tonnes, which could potentially translate into 16 per cent more revenue cargo volume than the smaller Boeing 747-400 Freighter.
Marlin Dailey, the US aircraft manufacturer's vice president, sales and marketing, for its commercial division, said: "The 747-8 freighter will provide tremendous economics and reliability to Korean Air's global operations."
