HHLA Container Terminal Altenwerder (CTA) was once again able to improve its performance in 2010, according to a Europe-wide survey by APL. Its findings concluded that CTA increased its productivity relative to the previous year by ten percent, setting a new record. This makes CTA the best performing container terminal in Northern Europe for the third successive year.
“In 2010, Container Terminal Altenwerder has once again proven its high productivity level in handling our containerships, even outperforming its previous level. We congratulate HHLA and its staff on this outstanding achievement,” said Paul Gregson, Terminals Manager for APL Europe.
Every year, APL compares the productivity of the container terminals in Europe which handle its ships, making a commendation to the winner. APL, a member of The New World Alliance (TNWA) consortium, mainly operates its Far East and Baltic feeder services via HHLA’s CTA.
“We are delighted with the APL award. This will spur us on to reinforce and extend our top position in Europe again this year,” said Heinrich Goller, Managing Director of HHLA Container Terminals.
Thanks to its high level of automation, the CTA is the most modern terminal in the world. The technology enhances efficient loading and discharging of large containerships.
