Mar 23, 2011 Logistics

UNITED Arab Shipping Co. (UASC) is going to link Brazil to Asia, the Middle East and Indian subcontinent through transhipment at Algeciras.

A report by Alphaliner said the carrier will use its Asia-Europe services, AEC 2, AEC7 and AMC2, as well as its new Europe-east coast of South America service, the ESE, to provide onward transhipment to ports in Brazil.

"Connections involving a single transhipment will be possible between Kwangyang, Busan, Shanghai, Xiamen, Shenzhen-Yantian, Cai Mep, Singapore and Port Kelang on the Asia side, and Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Itajai, Santos and Salvador on the Brazilian side," the report said.

Other port pairs will be covered through transhipments on local feeders or, on the Asia side, through other UASC services as well, it said.

Likewise, UASC will link its Middle East-Indian subcontinent services to Brazil through the carrier's Middle East-Indian subcontinent-Mediterranean (MINA) service and also the ESE service.

The report said this will connect Khor Fakkan, Jebel Ali, Karachi, Port Muhammad Bin Qasim, Mumbai, Nhava Sheva, and Jeddah to Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Itajai, and Salvador via a single transhipment.
