FRANKFURT Airport's Fraport air cargo hit 2.23 million metric tons in 2010, an increase of almost 21.5 per cent year on year with profit surpassing 2007 records by 19 per cent at EUR272 million (US$381.2 million).
Fraport chairman Stefan Schulte said its external business accounted for 20 per cent of the group's revenue and for about 34 per cent of its pre-tax profit.
"Our investment airports in Lima and Antalya have been showing double-digit growth for several years now. Lima is our showcase for South America, where we will also make a bid if, for example, airports in Brazil become privatised," he said, according to the UK's Transport Intelligence.
Local companies accounted for 64 per cent of orders at EUR605 million, from a total revenue of EUR940 million with most of these low value orders of EUR10,000 from small and medium-sized enterprises.
Revenue will increase to EUR2.3 billion with a pre-tax boost of 10-15 per cent expected alongside its passenger project to grow by four to seven per cent, added Mr Schulte.
