DHL signs security deal with Hyderabad Menzies Air Cargo

GERMAN logistics giant DHL has announced the signing of a security partnership for its freight forwarding division, DHL Global Forwarding with Hyderabad Menzies Air Cargo Pvt Ltd (HMACPL), Hyderabad to develop best practice standards in the handling high-value and high-risk air cargo.


Both companies will work on developing standard operating procedures and share best practices and information on criminal trends.


"It is important for all parties involved to promote collaboration, open communication and best practices," said Christoph Remund, CEO, DHL Lemuir Logistics Pvt Ltd.


Said Hyderabad Menzies Air Cargo CEO Paul Smith: "Stringent security procedures are an integral part of a successful supply chain, particularly for high value shipments."


Said DHL regional security chief Siew Yue Wah: "The security partnership programme will help create a safer environment not only for customers but for employees who handle high-value and high-risk products."


More than 30 sites across Asia Pacific adhere to TAPA Freight Security Requirement 2011 Class "A" Certification and are validated members of the United States Customs -Trade Partnership Against Terrorism Programme, said the DHL statement.


The DHL - Hyderabad Menzies partnership is the first such initiative in Hyderabad, following the success of DHL's similar collaborations with Cargo Terminal Operators across India.
