Mar 11, 2011 Logistics

SHENZHEN-based Jade Cargo International has launched direct flights from Hanoi to Amsterdam following an inaugural flight on February 27 from the Red River Delta area that includes stops in Chennai and Dubai.

The flights leave Shanghai Thursdays and Sundays and will arrive in Hanoi at the same day after a stop in Shenzhen, deploying two Boeing 747ERF flights a week.

Hanoi has evolved into one of Vietnam's major industrial centres said Jade Cargo's executive vice president of products and sales Gabriela Ahrens. "With our new connections, we are expanding our customised product to accommodate the increased demand in Vietnam, especially from the high-tech industry."

Jade Cargo is a joint venture of Shenzhen Airlines, Lufthansa Cargo AG and DEG German Development Bank. It transported 310,000 tons of freight and clocked up 1.7 billion tonne kilometres on its network of 25 destinations worldwide in 2010.
