Germany's Deutsche Bahn on Monday announced changes to the board of management at its logistics unit Schenker.
Thomas C. Lieb will July 1 assume the chairmanship of Schenker's management board, while remaining responsible for the air and ocean freight division as well as the Asia-Pacific and America regions.
Karl Nutzinger will return to the company on Jan. 1, 2009 after an absence of some six years to lead the European land transport business unit as well as the management of the region.
Nutzinger was chairman of Wincanton Deutschland, the German arm of the U.K. logistics firm. He previously served as Schenker's Europe Central regional director from 2000 to 2003 before leaving to become chief executive officer of GeoLogistics in London.
Nutzinger will replace Hans-Jg Hager who has resigned with effect from June 30. Until Nutzinger assumes his duties, Detlef Trefzger will take over Hager's role within the European land transport division.
Hager's successor as chairman of the board of management at Schenker Deutschland, Schenker's largest national subsidiary, has not yet been appointed.
Trefzger, member of Schenker's management board responsible for contract logistics and supply chain management, will also assume responsibility for the Middle East/Africa region as of July 1.
