Dragonair, Lufthansa Cargo expand summer services

HONG KONG's Dragonair will increase frequencies on services to Kaohsiung by 10 - to 42 a week, a total of six return flights a day, said the company in announcing its summer schedule.


German flag carrier Lufthansa made a similar summer schedule announcement with details below.


For Dragonair, this increases services to and from the mainland, from Nanjing and Chengdu to twice daily, Chongqing to daily and Xiamen to four a day. Three more flights a week will be added to Ningbo making a total of 10 flights a week.


Additional capacity on its Airbus A330-300 will benefit one of the three daily flights to Hangzhou and one of two daily flights to Fuzhou as of March 27 and May 1 respectively, said the company.


Lufthansa Cargo is to expand its MD-11 route network to weekly flights to Shenzhen, Kolkata and Barcelona with its Aerologic joint venture cargo carrier providing connections between Frankfurt, Houston and Lahore from March, 27.


"These new flights will make the network even more attractive," said Andreas Otto, Lufthansa Cargo board member. Its increased presence on its MD-11 network, serving more than 20 cities in Asia direct, is thanks to its stake in Shenzhen's Jade International Cargo.


The return leg of its thrice weekly service to Shenzhen will link at the Lufthansa hub in Frankfurt into direct connecting flights to Barcelona, a new connection due to increased demand from the textile industry. To accommodate the demand, Jade will continue to operate the route of twice-weekly flights with Boeing 747 freighters.


Leipzig-based, Aerologic summer flight schedules will be operated by Boeing freighters on Sundays from Frankfurt to Lahore.


Direct flights between Frankfurt and Shenzhen will run every day except Mondays. Flight LH8510 will depart from Frankfurt Tuesdays at 0415 hrs and arrive 0220 hrs, departing Wednesdays from Shenzhen on flight LH8509 at 0420 hrs, arriving Frankfurt at 1410 hrs. Thursdays and Saturdays, flight LH8512 will depart Frankfurt at 0550 hrs, arriving 0205 hrs. On Fridays and Saturdays, flight LH8511 will depart 0435 hrs and arrive 1415 hrs after a Friday take off and 1350 hrs for the one on Saturday. (All local time.)


Flights from Frankfurt to Calcutta will run on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flight LH8512 on Thursday and Saturday will depart 0550hrs, arriving 1830 hrs. Fridays and Saturdays flight LH8511 will depart 0745 hrs and arrive at 1415 hrs.


Its direct flight from Frankfurt to and from Barcelona will run every day except Tuesday. Departure on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from Frankfurt will be on flight LH8360 at 2025 hrs, arriving 2225 hrs. On Thursday, Saturday and Monday its return leg from Barcelona flight LH8361 will depart 0205 hrs, arriving Frankfurt at 0405 hrs.


Its Frankfurt to Houston flights will run Saturdays and Sundays. Flight LH8044 to depart Frankfurt 2035 hrs, arrival Houston 0025 hrs. Returning flight LH8045 on Sunday departs 0225 hrs, arriving 2245 hrs.


Direct connection from Frankfurt to Lahore on Sundays, flight LH8076 with departure 155hrs, arriving 1205 hrs.
