Hainan provincial freight movement posts 12.8pc gain in 2010

SOUTH China's Hainan province recorded a 12.8 per cent increase in cargo movement to 224 million tonnes in 2010, reports Xinhua.


The road freight accounted for most of the volume at 62.1 per cent a rise to 139 million tonnes, while waterborne cargo contributed 35.3 per cent rising to 79 million tonnes. Rail freight was only 2.4 per cent of the total coming to 5.46 million tonnes while air freight represented 0.1 per cent at 228,500 tonnes.


Passenger volume by all transport means reached to 457 million person trips in 2010, up 10.2 per cent over 2009.
