THE southern coastal province of Fujian plans to invest US$12.3 billion in transport infrastructure construction, a 20 per cent increase over what was spent in 2010, reports Xinhua.
The province will invest $1.38 billion in shipping programmes to increase its port capacity 16 million tonnes and upgrade shipping lane 35 kilometres, as well as earmarking $462 million for transport terminal development and public transport.
The government will spend $8.15 billion on expressways to increase new roadways 300 kilometre and $2.4 billion on construction of 1,000 kilometres of new highway and 2,800 kilometres of secondary roads.
