THE intra-Asia container shipping arm of CMA CGM, Cheng Lie Navigation (CNC), plans to start offering two new services linking Japan and South Korea with Central East Asia through a cooperation agreement with Yang Ming.
CNC is buying slots on Yang Ming's Japan, Taiwan, South China, Philippines (JTS) service that has recently added a call at Manila. The amended port rotation is Nagoya, Tokyo, Chiba, Yokohama, Keelung, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Manila (S&N), Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Shenzhen-Shekou and Xiamen, reports Alphaliner.
It said CNC will also provide a ship on Yang Ming's JKS service which is being expanded to include a call at Ho Chi Minh City.
The report said this will add one week to the duration of a round trip voyage which previously took two weeks when the service turned back in Hong Kong.
Following the amendments, the service will be operated by three containerships ranging in size from 1,732 to 1,802 TEU.
