New US$10.6 billion agri-logistics centre to be built in Zhongshan

A CNY70 billion (US$10.6 billion) logistics centre for agricultural products is to be built in Guangdong province's Zhongshan city, Xinhua reports.


The facility is invested by a Jiangsu company. According to CEO of the company, the logistics centre will cover an area of 1.5 square kilometres, mainly offers trade, cold storage and transportation, processing, distribution and inspection services. It will later be developed into a major supply base for farm products for Hong Kong, Macau and South East Asia.


The first phase will start construction this year and the whole project will be finished in three years. After completion, the facility will be able to achieve a trade value of CNY20 to 30 billion per year.
