AS the import of natural gas surged, Xinjiang's Horgos checkpoint recorded a trade cargo volume of 3.1 million tonnes last year, up 390 per cent year on year, and a trade value of US$2.97 billion, up 66.2 per cent, Xinhua reports.
After removing the factor of natural gas, the checkpoint's trade cargo dropped 21.8 per cent to 492,000 tonnes. Trade value increased 10.5 per cent to $1.97 billion.
Export cargo fell 17.8 per cent to 468,000 tonnes in value and increased 11.3 per cent to $1.95 billion in value. Import cargo rocketed 4,300 per cent to 2.6 million tonnes in volume and soared 2,800 per cent in value to $1.02 billion.
