Feb 22, 2011 Logistics

Japan's Yamato Holdings has launched a door-to-door parcel delivery service operation in Hong Kong and aims to handle 600,000 parcels this year and 24 million in 2020.

Hong Kong is Yamato Transport's - a trucking subsidiary of Yamato Holding - fourth foothold overseas, following Taiwan, Singapore and Shanghai, reported Jiji Press.

Yamato Holdings president Kaoru Seto and Yamato Transport president Makoto Kigawa unveiled the group's plan to boost operations in mainland China.

Specifically, the group is slated to start operations in Shanghai and its vicinities as well as major cities in central Guangdong Province this year and will later expand to northern China, including Beijing, they said.
