HONG KONG's Asia Airfreight Terminal (AAT) handled 60,789 tonnes of air cargo in January, an increase of 27 per cent compared to the same month in 2010.
Within this total, export cargo amounted to 42,203 tonnes, up 31 per cent year on year. Import cargo volume rose 16 per cent in January to 17,941 tonnes and transshipment cargo throughput rose by 162 per cent to 652 tonnes.
"It is encouraging that we have recorded a significant growth in the first month of 2011. This is a good start but we are watchful for the trend to be developed," AAT corporate development general manager Nelson Lee.
